Why Kit can offer 10,000 free subscribers
Kit's current Free plan includes recommendation tooling, but Kit now says all five slots are editable and Recommendations can be turned off without changing plans. The key free-plan constraint is that automated sequences and visual automations require a paid Kit plan.
Why MailerLite can still fit better
A small service business may care more about a compact site, forms, basic automations, and a straightforward newsletter workflow than creator recommendations or paid newsletter tools. For that use case, Kit's extra audience monetization features may not be useful.
Automation ceiling
Kit's free plan does not include automated sequences or visual automations. Even a welcome sequence requires paid Creator or Pro; compare this with MailerLite's free automation allowance. Choose Kit when the newsletter itself is the product or audience asset. Choose MailerLite when email is one operational tool inside a small business rather than the center of the business model.
