Kit pricing explained: what changes when you pay
Kit's free plan is generous on subscribers and sends, but paid plans change automation depth, recommendation control, reporting, and team access.
| Plan | Starting price | Core difference | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Newsletter | Free up to 10,000 active, unique subscribers | Unlimited sends, forms, landing pages, 1 basic automation, and 1 sequence | Required Kit-managed recommendation slot; Kit keeps earnings from that slot |
| Creator | $39 monthly or $33/month billed yearly for up to 1,000 subscribers | Unlimited visual automations and sequences, more workflow features, and greater recommendation control | Price rises with active subscriber count |
| Pro | $79 monthly or about $66/month billed yearly for up to 1,000 subscribers | Advanced reporting, automation, audience, and growth features | Useful only when advanced controls justify the higher base price |
Kit bills active confirmed subscribers
Kit says billing is subscriber-centric rather than list-centric. It charges for active confirmed subscribers and does not add a separate charge for tags, segments, or email volume. This makes list growth the main cost driver.
The free plan is not a stripped-down paid plan
The Newsletter Plan includes unlimited sends and a large subscriber allowance, but it has a different economic model. Recommendations are enabled, one Kit-managed recommendation slot is required, and Kit keeps earnings generated by that slot.
Automation is the first likely upgrade trigger
The free plan supports one basic visual automation connected to one sequence. A simple welcome funnel can fit. Multiple independent sequences, advanced branching, rules, RSS campaigns, and broader integrations require a paid plan.
Annual billing
Kit documents two months free with annual billing on Creator and Pro. Compare the annual commitment with expected list growth because the subscriber tier can change the actual cost.
When Creator is enough
- You need multiple automations and sequences.
- You want more control over recommendations.
- You need paid-plan integrations or RSS campaigns.
- Advanced Pro reporting is not yet operationally important.
When Pro can justify the premium
- Advanced reporting changes content or sponsorship decisions.
- Audience scoring and growth features are used regularly.
- Additional team and support capabilities reduce real operating work.
