Kit free plan limits: what the current Free plan actually allows

The subscriber limit is not the first limit for many creators

A creator can remain far below 10,000 subscribers and still need a paid plan. The typical trigger is the first automated sequence or visual automation, not the second workflow; advanced conditions, RSS campaigns, and integrations also require paid access.

Recommendations are optional on the current Free plan

Kit now says all five recommendation slots are yours to edit, and you can turn Recommendations off without changing plans. That removes the old mandatory recommendation tradeoff; the more important free-plan constraint is that sequences and visual automations are paid features.

Why some older Kit help says otherwise

Kit still has an older Newsletter Plan help article describing one free visual automation and one email sequence. That conflicts with Kit's current Free-plan help and live pricing, which reserve both features for paid Creator or Pro. For a new account, use the current Free-plan feature table above and verify the actual upgrade prompt before planning automated onboarding.

A realistic free-plan workflow

• One main newsletter audience.
• Signup forms and manually scheduled email broadcasts, without an automated welcome sequence.
• No requirement for an automated onboarding funnel or complex branching.
• Recommendations can be used, edited, or turned off without changing plans.

Upgrade when

• You need any automated email sequence or visual automation.
• You need paid integrations, RSS campaigns, or advanced rules.
• You need advanced reporting, team features, or deeper workflow controls.
• Your active unique subscriber count exceeds the free allowance.
