Kit free plan limits: what the Newsletter Plan actually allows

The free subscriber allowance is large, but automation and recommendation rules determine whether it fits a real creator workflow.

The subscriber limit is not the first limit for many creators

A creator can remain far below 10,000 subscribers and still need a paid plan. The typical trigger is workflow complexity: a second sequence, another automated entry point, advanced conditions, RSS campaigns, or integrations.

The recommendation requirement changes the free-plan economics

The Newsletter Plan requires participation in Kit's recommendation system. One recommendation slot is managed by Kit, and Kit keeps the earnings generated by that slot. Treat that condition as part of the plan rather than as a hidden footnote.

A realistic free-plan workflow

  • One main newsletter audience.
  • One signup path and one welcome sequence.
  • No need for multiple product funnels or complex branching.
  • Acceptance of the required recommendation slot.

Upgrade when

  • You need more than one automation or sequence.
  • You need paid integrations, RSS campaigns, or advanced rules.
  • You want greater control over recommendations.
  • Your active unique subscriber count exceeds the free allowance.
